Rainbow Run Farm is the premier facility in the Northeast where you can become involved with the elite sport of cutting. We have several great cutting horses to help teach you about working cattle. Cattle are always available for your works.We offer a wide range of lessons to meet the needs of cutting horse riders at all levels.

This Western style equine sport includes judging a horse and its rider on their capability to separate a calf  from a cattle herd and keep it away for a short period of time. The sport originated in the West, where Cutting Horses, or Quarter Horses, were used to separate cows for vaccinating, castrating and branding.

Now, cutting is one of the fastest-growing equine sports in the world and Rainbow Run Farm provides a state-of-the-art facility to appreciate this distinctive sport. You will have the opportunity to learn how to cut cattle on world class cutting horses. Learn from the Best

Born in eastern Pennsylvanias Dutch country, Joe Schlegel was raised on his family farm, which was known for spectacular horses and horse shows. His brother, Sonny, showed cutting horses before herd holders existed and his mother showed Western Pleasure and Reining horses. In high school, he apprenticed in Willowbrook Farms horse training program with Bob Anthony.

Joe began his career by opening up his own horse training and sales business, but shifted into cutting horse training years later. Along with his wife, Karlene, they organized  AQHA horse shows, clinics, buckle cuttings and NCHA cuttings at their Featherhill Farm. Joe has shown and  coached to success Area winners, Affiliate leaders, Congress champions and Eastern National winners.

Joe teamed up with Brad Benson after Brad came to purchase a team penning horse, which eventually led to ownership of a string of Cutting Horses. Joe has trained and shown Brads horses for over a decade, and moved his training operation to Brads farm to open the door for more Cutting Horses in the East.
